This blue commemorative plaque records: Lord Warden Hotel 1853-1939 Napoleon III Emperor of France was reunited here with his wife Princess Eugenie on his exile to England 1871. Recorded plaque organisation: Dover Society.
Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, later known as Napoleon III, was the nephew of Napoleon I and served as the President of France and then Emperor from 1848 until 1870; Eugénie de Montijo was his wife and Empress consort. They are remembered for their significant role in mid-19th century French history, including the Second Empire's industrial and cultural advancements, though their reign ended with France's defeat in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871.
