Graveyard with collection of cast-iron Celtic Cross-style markers, ob. 1855-2002. Set in shared grounds with part creeper- or ivy-covered boundary wall to perimeter having rendered coping centred on triangular-headed gateway framing mild steel gate.
A graveyard contributing positively to the group and setting values of the Loreto Convent complex. NOTE: A Celtic High Cross-style monument commemorates 'MOTHER MARY MARGt. BENEDICTA SOMERS [d. 1855]…sent to establish the Institute of The Blessed Virgin Mary in Gorey' while an opposing monument commemorates her brother 'FRANCIS SOMERS ESQre. [d. 1850]…exalted by the gifts of a noble mind generous heart sincerity in friendship simplicity in manner and the accomplishments suited to the legal profession'.
