What is recorded here

Longcastle is a prehistoric standing stone near Kirkinner, recorded in Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment. It still rises beside the Machars, where old stone, sea air and forgotten ceremony may have mixed. People came there before written memory, perhaps to mark loss, claim land or watch the sky. The stone does not need a modern story to be strange; it is young only because human life is short.
