Larbrax Lodge stands as the nineteenth-century gate lodge to Lochnaw Castle in Dumfries and Galloway. It is a small stone sentinel at the edge of a great estate, built to mark the boundary between the public road and the private grounds. The castle itself has vanished, leaving the lodge behind like a doorman whose master has gone. It still points toward what was lost, framing the absence with its own solid shape.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Lochnaw Castle, Larbrax Lodge as Gate Lodge (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
