Little Ross: Slains Castle, North Sea

Schooner (19th Century)

What is recorded here

Little Ross is a nineteenth-century schooner trapped off Slains Castle in Aberdeenshire. The ship has joined the coastal legend because it resists the expectation that ordinary vessels obey every tide. People imagine her sails still catching wind beneath the sea, pulling her toward the castle ruins while the North Sea holds her back.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Little Ross: Slains Castle, North Sea as Schooner (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
