Seven ghost circles float in the grass at Castle Park, waiting for dry summer air to reveal their Bronze Age edges. They mark a linear cemetery where at least nine barrows once stood, including one large mound that still breaks the surface near Matford Barton. The dead were laid to rest in a deliberate line rather than a scattered heap, suggesting a community that valued order even in death.
