This blue commemorative plaque records: The Lincolnshire Rising began in this church 1st October 1536. For his part in it, the Vicar was hanged, drawn and quartered at Tyburn 25th March 1537.
Thomas Kendell was the vicar of St. James' Church in Louth who played a significant role in initiating the Lincolnshire Rising against Henry VIII's reforms; he was executed for his involvement in this rebellion.
