Lightnot Den is a possible medieval castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, recorded in the National Record of the Historic Environment. Its exact position is known to within ten metres, yet no visible structure remains certain enough to call a fact. The den may have hidden a tower, a courtyard or a family lineage now lost. What is left is a coordinate and a question: who built there, who forgot it, and whether the mountain still holds the shape of their hands?
