St Cowstan's Chapel in Garrabost, Lewis, is associated with St Cowtan (or Cowstan), a 7th-century Irish monk and martyr, who is said to have been beheaded for refusing to renounce his Christian faith. The chapel and its holy well were sites of pilgrimage and devotion, with local tradition linking the well to healing properties, particularly for eye ailments.
