This square is dedicated to the memory of Lance Corporal Walter Parker V.C. R.M. of Stapleford. He was awarded the Victoria Cross in recognition of his bravery at Gaba Tepe Gallipoli in May 1st 1915.
Lance Corporal Walter Parker V.C. R.M. was a Royal Marine who was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery during the Gallipoli Campaign on May 1st, 1915. The square is dedicated in his honour to commemorate his sacrifice and the highest award for valour in the face of the enemy.
