Lake of Menteith

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Lake of Menteith as Chapel (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The Lake of Menteith is associated with St Fillan, a 7th-century Irish monk and healer, and is traditionally believed to have curative properties, particularly for skin ailments and lameness. Pilgrims once visited the lake for ritual bathing, and a medieval chapel dedicated to St Fillan stood nearby, reflecting the site’s historical role in early Christian pilgrimage and healing traditions.
