Laighwood in Perth and Kinross still carries a medieval castle, chapel and burial ground, though much of the evidence has faded from ordinary sight. The site may have served as a domestic seat, a worship place and a final resting ground at the same time, which means the boundary between daily life and death was thinner there than in most towns. People may have walked past graves to reach a hall, or buried their dead beside rooms where children played. That overlap gives the place a quiet strangeness, because the living and the dead shared one small address.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Laighwood as Burial Ground (medieval), Castle (medieval), Chapel (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
