What is recorded here

One cannot know which lady, when, or why the well bears her name. The story may preserve a lost woman, a beloved keeper, a cursed noble, or a joke repeated until it became sacred. That uncertainty is not a flaw. It is the shape of the well: a small hole in the ground where human memory stopped being certain about itself.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Lady's Well as Castle (medieval), Well (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
