Janet Gordon, daughter of the Earl of Huntly and descendant of royal blood, married the violent Alexander Lindsay and later smothered him with a pillow after his duel wound. The court condemned her to Raven’s Rock, where she spun a thread toward the Ericht until death, leaving behind a tower whose shadow still hangs over the gorge.
