This blue commemorative plaque records: Railway Viaduct Built 1839-1840 Architect: John Lowe Engineer: George Watson Buck Widened 1887-1889 to four tracks 1786 ft long, 111 ft high, 27 arches. The Structure, built with 11 million bricks, provided the inspiration for many of L. S. Lowry's paintings. Recorded plaque organisation: Metropolitan Borough of Stockport.

John Lowe and George Watson Buck were respectively the architect and engineer behind the Stockport Railway Viaduct, a structure that inspired numerous paintings by L. S. Lowry due to its significant presence in the industrial landscape.
