Knock of Alves

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Knock of Alves as Church (period Unknown)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Linked to Saint Alves (or Alua), a 7th-century Irish saint associated with Cumbria and the Scottish borders, the Knock of Alves is traditionally connected to healing rituals and may have been a site of early Christian worship. Local tradition suggests the name derives from "Cnoc Alba" or "Hill of Alba," reflecting its possible role in pre-Norman religious practices.
