Kirktonhill, Holy Well

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Kirktonhill, Holy Well as Holy Well (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Linked to an unidentified saint, the Kirktonhill Holy Well is associated with local traditions of healing and pilgrimage, common to many Scottish holy wells. Little specific folklore or historical record survives, but such sites were often centres for votive offerings and seasonal rituals in medieval times.
