Kinnettles Castle is a mid-19th century Scottish Baronial building in Angus, now a hotel. James Paterson built the current structure in 1864 after buying the estate, replacing older manor houses with a grand statement of wealth. The central tower may have copied Ackergill Tower near Wick, giving the local house a distant Caithness shadow. Later owners kept changing the place, but the bold castle form remains the clearest mark of Paterson’s ambition.
