What is recorded here

Kinnaird Castle and Farnell Lodge stand in Angus as a gate lodge, though no date or owner is recorded. The name suggests a boundary, a place where entry was decided and departure watched. Perhaps a family lived there, judging carts and strangers before they reached the main house. The castle may have been the reason the lodge existed, but the lodge is what still marks the edge of the estate.
