St Maelrubha, also known as Maolrubha, was an 8th-century Irish monk and saint associated with the Pictish region of Scotland, particularly with the founding of a monastery at Applecross. The name "Kilvaree" may derive from "Cill Maelrubha," meaning "church of Maelrubha," reflecting the saint's historical and spiritual significance in early Christian Scotland.
