Kilpeck Castle is a Norman motte-and-bailey fortification in Herefordshire, built in the late eleventh or early twelfth century. Its earth mound, ditches and bailey enclosures still stand beside the remains of a medieval village, preserving a complete Marches landscape that most castles lost. The site remains largely unexcavated, keeping its military and domestic layers buried together under seven hectares of protected ground.
