Kilnmaichlie House stands in Moray as a circa 16th century L-plan tower house whose core dates to 1490, when Sir Walter Stewart held it in liferent. Later extensions shaped it into a tall east-facing dwelling with an off-centre stair tower and small caphouse, while 18th-century fielded doors and Banffshire slate roofs still mark its changed life. It became part of the Ballindalloch estate, was divided into two farm cottages, and survived restoration in 1987.
