What is recorded here
Kill Burial Gd (Disused) is a sub-rectangular burial ground in County Cork, Ireland, marked 'Kill Grave Yd' on the 1842 OS map. A 1.2m stone wall encloses 34.5m by 28.5m of pasture, with a 6m gap to the west-northwest and faint grave markers still visible. The dead likely rested here centuries before surveyors drew the boundary, their names lost but their shape preserved in stone.
Marked 'Kill Grave Yd' on OS 6-inch map (1842). In pasture. Sub-rectangular area (L 34.5m; Wth 28.5m) enclosed by stone wall (H 1.2m; Wth 1.7m). Gap in wall to WNW (Wth 6m). Some grave markers noted.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
