What is recorded here
Kill B Gd (Childrens) (Disused) is a buried children's graveyard hidden under thick scrub in County Cork. The 1842 map still calls it a kill burial ground for children, but overgrowth has erased every marker and boundary. What remains is a quiet warning that even the smallest graves can disappear when nobody tends them.
In scrub. Marked 'Kill burial ground for Children' on OS 6-inch map (1842). Known locally as burial ground. Site indistinguishable due to overgrowth.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
