James Ogston bought the Kildrummy estate in 1898 and A. Marshall Mackenzie completed the cream sandstone mansion in 1901. The house became a sixteen-bedroom hotel in 1956, giving travellers a chance to walk its terraced garden above the ravine before it closed in 2017. Its rooms have stopped serving guests, but the building still holds the shape of that hospitality, waiting for someone to remember how it felt.
