Back Den Bridge still crosses its water beside Kildrummy New Castle, a plain stone span doing the only job a bridge must do: carrying people across. It belongs to Aberdeenshire, where castle shadows stretch long over farmland and river light. The castle has had fire, ruin and rebirth, but the bridge may have simply watched wheels, boots and rain pass for centuries.
