Kilbirnie Castle is a ruined tower and mansion house in North Ayrshire, built in the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries for the Barclay, Crawfurd, Lindsay and Boyle families. It stands on high ground beside a ravine in the old Barony of Kilbirnie, now within the grounds of the Kilbirnie Place Golf Club. The name means Church of St Brendan, and local tradition says Scots forces mustered there before the Battle of Largs in 1263.
