Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Katie's Cairn as Cairn (prehistoric) - (post Medieval)(possible), Witch Association (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Prehistoric cairn, possibly later associated with post-Medieval witchcraft traditions. Its dual listing suggests both ancient funerary use and later folkloric significance.
