This blue commemorative plaque records: Joseph Platt 1863-1930 As Hon Sec ran the Northern Union, later to become the Rugby League, from these offices from 1895 until 1920. He is considered by many to be the father figure of Rugby League. Platt was an official of Oldham FC from 1885 until his death in 1930 Recorded plaque organisation: Oldham Council.
