Joseph Chamberlain, Austen Chamberlain, and Highbury Hall bronze plaque

This bronze commemorative plaque records: The Rt Hon Joseph Chamberlain M. P. Resided In This House From 1880 Until His Death In London In 1914. From 1915 To 1918 The House Was Used As A Military Hospital By Permission Of Sir Austen Chamberlain K. G. M. P. Who In 1919 Generously Gave The Whole Of The Buildings To The Highbury Trustees Who By Means Of Voluntary Contributions Purchased The Land Forming The Highbury Estate From 1919 To 1932 The Premises Were Used As A Hospital For Disabled Ex-service Men When The Estate Was Given By The Trustees To The Birmingham City Council For The General Benefit Of The Citizens The Library In Which Joseph Chamberlain Constantly Worked And Read And Where He Prepared Some Of His Most Famous Speeches And Entertained Many Distinguished Guests Has Been Preserved In His Memory July 1934

Joseph Chamberlain MP was a prominent British politician known for his influential role in domestic and imperial politics, while Sir Austen Chamberlain KG PC, his son, served as Foreign Secretary and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1925 for his efforts to improve international relations.
