Jordan's Castle is a tower house in Ardglass, County Down, built to watch the harbour and survive siege. Simon Jordan held it for three years during the Tyrone rebellion until Mountjoy relieved him in 1601. Its narrow stair, roof guard and central position suggest a small stubborn fortress rather than a grand palace. Ardglass kept several castles because the harbour and coast demanded constant defence.
