This blue commemorative plaque records: Jonathan Peate JP (1837-1924) Born in a weaver's cottage in Yeadon. Philanthropist and owner of Nunroyd Mills (built 1868, demolished 1987). he dontaed land and money for the benefit of the people of Yeadon & Guiseley including Yeadon Town Hall Square; also Kirk Lane Park (1907), and Nethermoor Park. Chairman of Wharfedale Board of Guardians for 25 years. Recorded plaque organisation: Aireborough Civic Society: Guiseley, Rawdon & Yeadon.
Jonathan Peate was a prominent philanthropist and mill owner in Yeadon, known for his significant donations of land and money that benefitted the local communities of Yeadon and Guiseley, including the establishment of parks and the construction of Yeadon Town Hall Square.
