This green commemorative plaque records: The site of the Hockley Methodist Chapel opened 4th April 1783 by the Reverand John Wesley and the Reverand Dr Thomas Coke
John Wesley and Thomas Coke were key figures in the Methodism movement; Wesley, a founder of Methodism, and Coke, a prominent missionary, jointly opened the Hockley Methodist Chapel, contributing to the spread of Methodist teachings.
