John Wesley, a significant figure in the Methodist movement, preached in Tenby at the Old Market Cross in 1763 and 1784, contributing to the spread of Methodism. Sir William Paxton, a prominent local figure, built Tenby House in 1821 on the site formerly occupied by the Globe Inn.
