This blue commemorative plaque records: On this site The Revd. John Wesley (1703 - 1791) opened the second Methodist Preaching House in Manchester, 30th March 1781. Recorded plaque organisation: Manchester City Council.
John Wesley was a Church of England cleric and evangelist who founded Methodism; he is remembered for his extensive preaching, promotion of social holiness, and establishment of Methodist societies across Britain.
