John Lombe and Sir Thomas Lombe were instrumental in establishing the Derby Silk Mill, one of the first factories in Britain, which played a crucial role in the early Industrial Revolution. George Sorocold was a renowned hydraulic engineer who contributed significantly to the development of water power systems used in industrial machinery.
