This brass commemorative plaque records: In memory of John Humphreys P.H.D., M.A., F.L.S., F.S.A., 1850 - 1937 His life was an Inspiration to many Branches of Science and the Arts. He was an unfailing Friend of the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and his initiative and co-operation were largely instrumental in the Founding the Natural History Museum Recorded plaque organisation: Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
Dr John Humphreys (1850-1937) was a notable figure in science and arts, significantly contributing to the establishment of the Natural History Museum and serving as a steadfast supporter of the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
