This blue commemorative plaque records: Jesmond Cemetery. The Gateway and former Chapels were built for the Newcastle General Cemetery Company in 1836. Architect, John Dobson. Restored by the County Council 1978 Recorded plaque organisation: City of Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear County Council.
John Dobson was a prominent 19th-century architect from Newcastle upon Tyne, known for designing numerous significant buildings in the region, including the Jesmond Cemetery Chapel; he is remembered for his contributions to the architectural landscape of northeast England.
