This black commemorative plaque records: Radynden Gate. The ancient manor of Radynden lay to the south of the gate. Above are the arms of Sir John De Ranynden 1274-1350 since assumed ex the county of Sussex
Sir John De Ranynden was a prominent landowner in Sussex during the late 13th and early 14th centuries, known for his ownership of the ancient manor of Radynden; his arms adorn Radynden Gate, signifying his historical importance to the region.
