This blue commemorative plaque records: In memory of Driver John Axon G.C. and Guard John Creamer who gave their lives in the line of duty at this station, 9th February 1957
John Axon and John Creamer were railway workers who received posthumous recognition for bravery after sacrificing their lives to save others during an accident at this station on February 9, 1957. Their actions exemplify courage in the face of danger and have made them local heroes remembered for their ultimate sacrifice.
