Twenty-six Castlegate stands in Jedburgh as a nineteenth-century tenement, its rooms built for dense living rather than display. The address still marks a narrow strip of Scottish Borders where several families may have shared walls, stairs and weather. Whatever occupied those rooms, the building remains a container for ordinary life: meals, arguments, sleep and the small noises that fill a house when people believe they are alone.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Jedburgh, 26 Castlegate as Tenement (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
