King James I of England, also known as James VI of Scotland, was a monarch who ruled from 1603 to 1625, uniting the crowns of England and Scotland; he is remembered for commissioning the Authorized King James Version of the Bible. The site marked as "The King's Paradise" was a royal garden where King James I enjoyed recreational activities such as bowling.
