This bronze commemorative plaque records: In honoured memory Private James Cooper V.C. 1840 - 1882 2nd Bn 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot Who gained his country's highest award for valour on 7th May 1867 at Andaman Islands, Bay of Bengal and is buried in Warstone Lane Cemetery
Pte. James Cooper VC was a British soldier who received the Victoria Cross for his bravery during an engagement with rebels on the Andaman Islands in 1867; he is remembered for his acts of valor in the service of the British Empire.
