This blue commemorative plaque records: Methodist Church Built in 1847 by York Architect J.B. & W. Atkinson in an Italianate style. The church contains fine woodwork and an organ by Harrison and Harrison. The first preacher was the Rev George Macdonald. He was to become the grandfather of both Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin and poet Rudyard Kipling. Recorded plaque organisation: Boston Spa Parish Council.
J.B. Atkinson and W. Atkinson were architects who designed the Methodist Church in Boston Spa in 1847, known for its Italianate style; George Browne Macdonald was the first preacher at this church and is notable as the grandfather of Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin and poet Rudyard Kipling.
