This blue commemorative plaque records: In Clare Street, once called Horlokesstrete, Isolda Parewastel dwelt between 1321 and 1368. She was a pilgrim in Jerusalem in 1365; there was captured, tortured; she escaped to return to Bridgwater through France. Recorded plaque organisation: Bridgwater and District Civic Society.
Isolda Parewastel was a medieval English pilgrim who lived in Clare Street from 1321 to 1368; she is remembered for her capture and torture while on pilgrimage to Jerusalem in 1365, and for her eventual escape and return to England.
