What is recorded here

Crannog islands are artificial islands built in lakes during the early Christian period. People stacked stones, soil and wood against the water until dry land appeared where none existed before. They lived there deliberately, raising homes, storing food and resisting flooding because they believed they could shape the edge between water and air.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND, possibly CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
