What is recorded here
Crannog or island, the distinction still wobbles beneath the surface in Mount Hamilton. A crannog would mean hands building an island where none existed, stacking stone and soil until the water retreated enough for life to begin. The name hovers because the shape resists a final answer, but the place remains marked, separate, and older than the certainty we usually demand.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND (possibly CRANNOG). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
