Crannog islands are ancient lake dwellings, and Lough Ross in County Armagh may hold one beneath its water. The official record calls it an island, possibly a crannog, from the early Christian period. That uncertainty is not a flaw; it is the shape of the place. A circle of stones or a drowned hut may still turn under the lough, waiting for someone to stop calling it unknown.
