This pink commemorative plaque records: Old Town Station. The Station building was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and his assistant R. P. Brereton. It opened on 31st May 1841. The branch line from Kemble closed to passenger trains on 6th April 1964. Recorded plaque organisation: Cirencester Civic Society.
Isambard Kingdom Brunel was a renowned British engineer who designed innovative structures including railways, bridges, and ships; Robert Pearson Brereton assisted Brunel in designing the Old Town Railway Station, contributing to Brunel's extensive legacy of engineering works.
