Bolt Tail Camp is an Iron Age cliff castle on a narrow headland above Hope Cove, where a sixteen-foot earth rampart and stone facing still block the landward approach. The entrance cuts obliquely through the bank, while a lower camp near the water may have guarded fresh water and boats before a retreat upward. Rabbits have gnawed the ancient works for centuries, but the sea and steep cliffs did the heavier guarding.
